Harbour Department....................$3,000
Medical...............................$6,300
Sanitary...............................$6,000
Botanical..............................$1,200
Police.................................$5,000
Public Works Department............$110,000
Miscellaneous.........................$1,000
Total...................................$132,500
In addition to this the Government is committed to a contribution to the Relief Fund equal to the amount of private subscriptions received. It is now considered that this amount will be approximately $240,000. In paragraph 11 of my Despatch No.237 dated the 5th instant forwarding the Estimates for the year 1907 I stated that a sum which might amount to $125,000 would be required for repair of damages and for special services connected with the storm while the Government contribution to the Relief Fund would probably be nearly $200,000. It now appears that the total Government expenditure will be approximately $372,500 instead
